Dedra will custom design a virtual PD experience that best delivers the topic you choose. Live Webinars or Flipped style professional development, the goal will be to go beyond sit and get. She's familiar with Google Meets, Zoom, Facebook Groups, Go to Meeting, Schoology and many other formats and will use whichever platform works for your staff and district. Dedra will interact with your group as a whole or in a 1:1 debrief (depending on # of participants), and help them to implement the new information in their own professional practice.
Dedra loves using a closed Facebook Group as a way to present PD to teachers. Most educators are familiar with the technology and they can access the information using phones or laptops. Dedra will have released videos posted for participants to watch at their convenience (1-4 hours) along with supporting resources. Educators will have multiple "Challenge Learning Prompts" throughout the class to consider. There will also be 2 LIVE discussion sessions with Dedra, where participants will interact about the lessons, resources, and learning prompts. Educators will not only be able to communicate with Dedra throughout but they will also be able to discuss topics and share ideas with each other. The content created and generated in the group will be available to access for 6 months.
Dedra is happy to come to your staff in a live or pre-recorded webinar format using the software of your choice. Dedra will present material (remember without group interaction, activities, and collaboration, the sessions will go much faster than the typical 6-7 hr day). Dedra will provide support materials and take questions from participants throughout the webinar (if live) and will have a closing live Q/A session (length is determined by amount of questions) if using prerecorded method. Webinars can range from 1-4 hr presented in one day or across a few days.
Using the Flipped model, Dedra will present material with active thought questions in a video format for educators to watch prior to attending the virtual PD experience. This gives each person time to reflect, pause, and replay information as it is convenient in their home setting. The virtual meeting will be held in Zoom or Google or other meeting software. During the virtual meeting, Dedra will emphasize the major aspects of the PD, ask for input and dialogue, and challenge teachers to apply the information learned in a classroom scenario.

Hire Dedra to work with your teachers in 1:1 capacity, working on a personal professional development plan. Dedra will consult with each teacher individually to set the goal that is unique to each individual. With 1:1 time, Dedra will coach the teacher via live sessions, email or chat dialogue, video clips to watch, and feedback on lesson plans or development of curriculum. This can be an intense short period or an on-going capacity and will vary depending on goals, experience, and staff size. Topics can include just about anything: restorative classroom, classroom management, relationships, formative assessment, trauma informed classrooms, differentiated classroom, SEL skills, digital tools, DOK- Rigor, and more.
Dedra can use one of her co-authored books or another book you are focusing on in the coming year in a Book Study PD. Dedra will provide a book for each participant and will hold virtual book discussions on sections of the book over a period of time. There will be rich discussion, practical examples, and supplemental materials provided throughout the PD experience.
Dedra will do a series of 30-60 minute meetings with different teams virtually. The topics can be specific or can vary depending on your goals. She will help guide teams through professional learning, will help prepare them for the "new" school environment in the fall, or participate and add resources during a team discussion. She has developed a comprehensive leadership discussion session to help building leaders work through the possible issues and protocols that might be needed in the fall when the doors reopen.
